Tree Service Questions, Straight Answers
The questions Jefferson County homeowners actually ask us — pricing, insurance, storm prep, and what to do with that leaning water oak. If yours isn’t here, call (409) 555-0110.
Pricing & Estimates
How much does tree removal cost in Beaumont?
Most single-tree removals run $400–$1,500. Large heritage live oaks requiring rigged dismantling over structures can reach $1,500–$4,000+. The variables are size, species behavior, what’s underneath the canopy, and access. Every estimate is free, on-site, and in writing — see the pricing guide for typical ranges.
Do you charge for estimates?
No. On-site estimates are free anywhere in our service area and come with a written scope. If another company’s “free estimate” was a number texted without anyone looking at the tree, that’s not an estimate — that’s a starting bid.
Do you require a deposit?
Not for routine residential work. You pay when the job is done and the cleanup is finished. Large commercial or multi-acre clearing projects may stage payments by progress — spelled out in the written scope before work starts.
Storm & Hurricane Questions
When should I have my trees trimmed before hurricane season?
Book thinning and deadwooding between February and April. Trees need time to compartmentalize pruning cuts before June, and our pre-storm calendar fills every year. Light clearance and deadwood work can happen anytime — including mid-season between storms.
A storm knocked my tree onto the house. What now?
1) Get everyone out if the structure is compromised. 2) Call us at (409) 555-0110 — answered 24/7. 3) Photograph everything before anyone cuts (our crew re-documents on arrival anyway). 4) Call your insurer. We tarp openings, relieve the load safely, and give you the written documentation your adjuster will request.
Will my homeowner’s insurance pay for tree removal?
Usually when a tree hits a covered structure (house, garage, fence — policies vary). Pure preventive removal of a healthy-but-scary tree is typically out of pocket. Our storm documentation package — photos, failure notes, scope — is built for exactly the claim conversation. We don’t negotiate with carriers; your scope paperwork does the talking.
How fast do you respond after a named storm?
True emergencies (structure contact, blocked egress) get triaged first, usually same day. After a major hurricane the whole county calls at once — leave a callback request via any form on this site if lines are jammed, and we work the list in order with emergencies first.
Tree Health & Local Conditions
My tree started leaning after the last big rain. Dangerous?
Take it seriously. In saturated Neches-basin soil, live oaks and water oaks can lose most of their anchoring. Check for heaved soil on the side opposite the lean and exposed or cracked roots on the lean side. Either sign, or any lean that’s new, means call for an assessment — this is one of the most common emergency removals in the county.
Why do you warn so much about water oaks?
They’re Beaumont’s most common yard tree, fast-growing with weak wood and a short natural life (~50–70 years in cultivation). They drop limbs without warning — especially after stress events — and they re-sprout ferociously from stumps. We don’t hate them; we just respect what they do at forty years old over a roofline.
Can my big old live oak be saved, or does it need to come down?
Often saved. Multi-trunk live oaks with included bark frequently respond to cable-and-rod bracing plus weight-reduction pruning. We assess unions, root plate, and soil conditions honestly — if removal is genuinely the right call, we’ll show you exactly why.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Beaumont?
Ordinary residential tree removal in Beaumont and Jefferson County generally doesn’t require a permit. Exceptions can apply in historic districts, for protected specimen trees in some developments, and in rights-of-way. If your property has any of those wrinkles, we’ll flag it during the estimate.
Practical Stuff
Will you leave the firewood or chips?
Your choice. Cut rounds can stay stacked, or we haul. Chips can be left as mulch (great under live oaks — except material from diseased trees), or we take them. Palm wood doesn’t chip into useful mulch, so palm removal always includes haul-off.
Are you insured?
Fully — liability coverage for residential and commercial tree work, with certificates available on request. Tree work is among the most dangerous trades in the country; verify insurance with any company you hire, including us.
Do you work outside the listed service areas?
Our core is Beaumont, Port Arthur, Nederland, Lumberton, Vidor, and Orange plus the communities between. For storm emergencies we’re flexible county-wide. Beyond that, call — if we can’t get to you quickly, we’ll say so rather than book you into a two-week queue.
