Named for the Gusher That Built This Town
On January 10, 1901, the Spindletop hill south of Beaumont blew a hundred-foot column of oil into the Texas sky and changed the world — launching the modern petroleum industry, turning Beaumont into a boomtown overnight, and (with Port Arthur’s port and Orange’s timber) welding together the Golden Triangle. We took the name because this company is from here, for here.
What That Means in Practice
The Spindletop strike built a city fast — and the neighborhoods that followed planted fast-growing trees: water oaks, sweetgums, crape myrtles along every fence line, and the live oaks that now shade a century of front porches from the Old Town to the West End. Those trees are reaching the end of their natural lives on the same schedule, in the most hurricane-exposed county in Texas. Somebody has to take them down safely, brace what can be saved, and clean up what the Gulf knocks over. That’s the job we signed up for.
What We Actually Do Differently
- Storm-season is the operating model, not an afterthought. We staff a 24/7 line every day of the year, because Beaumont’s storms don’t check the calendar. Pre-season (February–April) is when we push canopy-thinning appointments hardest.
- Local species literacy. Water oaks behave differently from live oaks; pines fail differently from both. Our estimates name the species, the failure risk, and the plan — not just a number.
- Flood-soil awareness. Half of Jefferson County sits in the Neches basin’s wet zone. We check root plates and lean history before quoting removals on low-lying lots, and we’ll tell you when the honest answer is “wait for the ground to dry.”
- Insurance-grade documentation. After every storm job you get photos and a written scope — the packet adjusters ask for.
- Honest pricing. Free on-site estimates, written scopes, no surprise line items. If removal isn’t the right answer (cabling, pruning, or just waiting), we say so — even when it costs us the job.
What We Don’t Do
We don’t publish invented reviews or pay for ratings — ask around the neighborhood instead. We don’t top trees, we don’t spike-palm, and we don’t cut “just that one limb” on a storm-loaded trunk. And we don’t take deposits for routine residential work; you pay when the job is done and the yard is raked.
